Lode Runner

A puzzle-platformer about digging pits to trap guards and collect every piece of gold.

Hudson Soft · Broderbund · 4–8 hrs

Difficulty

A hundred screens of digging. Guards pick up gold and drop it. You cannot dig brick that isn't brick. The edit mode is how the game lived in classrooms.

Tips

  • Start here

Trap, then run over, then climb

A hole is a timer. Don't dig the brick you still need as a floor. Gold a guard is carrying doesn't count until he drops it.

  • Secrets

The level editor is the second cartridge

Beat a few, then build one. That's the soul of Lode Runner. A trap at the spawn is cheap; a trap at the last bar is comedy.
