Grand Theft Auto V

An open-world crime game about three criminals pulling heists across San Andreas.

Rockstar North · Rockstar Games · 30–50 hrs

Difficulty

Three protagonists, one Los Santos, and an online mode that became the actual game. The story wants flight school and assassination-mission stocks; Online wants the Kosatka and a Cayo Perico route you can solo.

Tips

  • Start here

Flight school before the big heists

Franklin's slow-mo, Trevor's rage, and Michael's bullet time are the story kit. Complete flight school before the Paleto or Big Score setups so the helicopter legs stop being the wipe.

  • Start here

    Skip the first real-estate pitch

The in-game property ads are not the good investments. Spend story cash on a garage and a weapon loadout; the assassination missions are the money.

  • Advanced

    Lester's assassinations move stocks

Before each Lester assassination, invest the three protagonists in the company that will spike, then sell after the mission. That loop is the story-mode money glitch that isn't a glitch.

  • Secrets

    Epsilon, the jet, the mine

The Epsilon program is a long-form scam with a tractor at the end. Fort Zancudo's jet is stealable with a cargo bob or a sprint through the gate; the naval mines around the carrier are how a lot of those attempts end.

  • Multiplayer

Cayo Perico is the solo heist

The Kosatka submarine starts the Cayo Perico heist, which is still the cleanest solo money in GTA Online. Don't buy a nightclub first; buy the thing that prints setups you can finish without three randoms.

  • Secrets

    Epsilon and yoga are missable

Michael's yoga and the Epsilon long-form questline can lock out if you skip the phone calls. Chop's interactions with Franklin are easy to never open once the story starts assigning heists.
