Difficulty
A rhythm Tetris whose Journey mode is a light show and whose Connected mode is a real multiplayer ladder. T-spins and Perfect Clears are still the score; Zone is the new dump button.

Don't wait for the I-piece
Play the board you have. A T-spin mini or a clean Tetris from a well you already built beats a 20-block wait for a four-line that never comes. Keep the stack low enough that a bad bag doesn't kill you.

Zone stores lines, then dump
Hold Zone until you have eight-plus lines ready, then dump for the multiplier. Firing Zone at two lines is a panic button that wastes the meter the boss modes are counting on.

T-spins are the score
T-spin doubles and triples, plus Perfect Clears, outscore a Tetris-only plan in Effect's scoring. 6-3 stacking is a reliable well; 9-0 against the wall is how you get buried when the I-piece is late.

Hold is a T-piece pocket
Keep a T or an I in hold on purpose. Don't burn hold on a random J you could have placed as a skid. The next-queue of six is enough to plan a T-spin; look at it.

Effect modes are extra Journey
The ritual, the hidden journeys, and some Area/Effect stages hide extra score goals. Play Journey on a difficulty that still lets you T-spin; Speed Mode is a different muscle.
- Multiplayer
Connected co-op shares a well
Connected mode literally joins the playfields; dump into your partner's well only when they ask. Zone Battle is 1v1 with Zone as the attack. Don't carry a 6-high garbage stack into a Zone you cannot clear.
