Difficulty

Capcom's modern versus fighter with Drive Rush, Drive Impact, and a Modern control option that is fully viable. Burnout is death; World Tour is a textbook; ranked is anti-airs.

Tips

  • Start here

    DI is a rock-paper-scissors

Drive Impact beats mashed buttons and armor through lights. It loses to a throw, a well-timed DI of your own, or an invincible DP. Don't DI as a poke from across the screen; walk, then threaten.

  • Start here

Modern is a real control scheme

Modern controls will take you through Gold. Classic is extra damage and more options, not a moral requirement. Anti-air (up-back plus a button, or a DP) is the skill that ranks, not a 3,000-damage combo you dropped.

  • Advanced

Drive Rush is a cancel, burnout is death

Cancel a special or a string into Drive Rush to keep turn. An empty Drive Gauge is burnout: you lose Drive Parry, you take more damage, and a DI will crumple you. Don't spend the last two bars on a convert you could have walked in for.

  • Advanced

    Punish counter vs counter-hit

A punish counter (hitting someone in recovery) is extra hitstun and the real combo route. Check the combo trials for your character's punish-counter confirms; they are not the same as the hit-confirm from a light string.

  • Secrets

    World Tour masters

World Tour is where the game hides character tutorials as NPCs. A master's location will teach you a character's game plan faster than a combo video. Don't skip the lab's frame-data display; SF6 prints it.

  • Multiplayer

    Anti-air, then throw loop

If they jump, anti-air; if they block, throw; if they mash, use a button that actually crushes. Ranked is this sentence for a long time, on both sides of the screen.
