Difficulty

The big-roster platform fighter where shield, grab, and double-jump cancels matter more than knowing every Final Smash. World of Light is a spirit catalog; the real game is a 3-stock Battlefield ruleset.

Tips

  • Start here

    Short hop, then nair

Tap jump and attack in the air before you reach the peak; that short-hop aerial is the neutral of this game. Full-hop smash attacks are how you get shielded and grabbed.

  • Start here

Grab beats shield, anti-air beats jump

Don't mash smash on shield. Walk up grab, or wait and parry. If they leave the ground, an up-air or a rising nair is the whole answer until you have a character-specific anti-air.

  • Advanced

    Parry is a just-shield

Drop shield the frame a hit lands and you get a freeze and a huge punish window. Rage (high percent) makes your knockback stronger; don't throw your last smash as if they were still at 80%.

  • Advanced

    Drift in, then out

Hold toward the opponent on the way up of an aerial, then away on the way down, to space the same nair as both a meaty and a retreat. Platform cancels on Battlefield turn landing lag into a mixup.

  • Secrets

    Palutena's Guidance and spirits

In World of Light, Palutena's Guidance (up-taunt as Palutena with Viridi/Viridi-less lines) is flavor; the actual secrets are the hidden spirit boards and the DLC fighter challenges that don't show on the base map.

  • Multiplayer

    3-stock, 7 minutes, Battlefield

Turn items off and use Battlefield or Final Destination for anything you want to get better at. Arena rules with FS Meter and smash balls will teach habits that lose on a Wi-Fi tournament ruleset.
