Rocket League

A sports game about rocket-powered cars playing soccer.

Psyonix · 50+ hrs

Difficulty

Soccer with rocket cars, where rotation and kickoffs decide more games than a ceiling shot. Camera settings and a half-flip will raise a rank faster than a new car body.

Tips

  • Start here

    Ball cam, almost always

Stay in ball cam except for a recover or a pad grab you already know. Drive in a curve to the ball; a straight-line jump for every aerial is how you whiff and leave the net empty.

  • Start here

    Last back is the goalie

If two teammates are already in, you are not. Rotation means you go back post, not to the ball, when you are third. Don't boost-starve; grab pads on the way out of net.

  • Advanced

Fast aerial is jump, tilt, jump, boost

First jump, tilt back, second jump, then boost. A half-flip (back flip cancel into a front recovery) is how you get back to net after a failed challenge. Wave dashes along the ground are free speed once the timing is honest.

  • Advanced

    Kickoff is a role

Diagonal into the ball, or a cheat-up if you are the designated. A back-post kickoff from the third player is the save when the first two whiff. Don't all three boost straight.

  • Secrets

Camera is a setting, not a default

FOV 110, distance around 270, height around 100 is a standard starting point. The default camera hides the ball on your roof; change it before you blame mechanics.

  • Multiplayer

    Don't double commit

If a teammate is already challenging, you shadow. Call 'I got it' or, if you have no mic, play as if they don't hear you and leave a man back. A 2v2 that triple-commits is a 0v2 on the other end.
