  Assess is the first ATB

  Assess every new enemy. Pressure, then stagger, then dump Infinity's End / the limit / the synergy. Using a slow, big attack off stagger is how a boss gets the bar back.

  Synergy abilities are a second Limit

  Build the synergy gauge on purpose; those team attacks also fill Limit. Pair HP Absorb on the materia of the attack you actually press, not on a spell you cast twice a fight.

  Weapon manuscripts are the skill tree

  Each weapon has a manuscript skill tree you level by using it. Don't swap Cloud off the weapon you're unlocking because another sword's number is 2 points higher. Chadley's intel and combat sims are the extra SP.

  Queen's Blood is not optional

  The card game pays materia and a side story people skip. Fort Condor and the piano are the same idea in different towns: do them when you arrive, not as a cleanup pass after the credits.

• Secrets

  Protorelics and world intel

  The protorelic chain in each region is a long-form quest with a real boss at the end. Towers, summon intel, and Chocobo sage bits are how the map stops being empty grass.

• Bosses

  Roche, Midgardsormr, Sephiroth

  Roche is a pressure exam on a bike and on foot. Midgardsormr wants airborne synergy and a stagger you don't waste. Sephiroth fights are a block-and-parry dance; don't empty Cloud's ATB on a slash that isn't a stagger punish.

• Builds

  Materia pairing is the build

  Elemental+linked element on armor for the region, HP Absorb on the main attack, and a Magnify on Heal or Haste. Don't spread every character into a poor man's Red Mage; give Tifa stagger, Aerith the magic, Barrett the range.
