Counter-Strike 2

A tactical shooter about two teams fighting to plant or defuse a bomb.

Valve · 100+ hrs

Difficulty

Valve's tactical shooter, rebuilt in Source 2. Smokes are volumetric, eco rounds still decide the half, and a Deathmatch warmup will do more for your rating than a new crosshair code.

Tips

  • Start here

    Counter-strafe before the click

Tap the opposite movement key so you are standing when the shot fires. Crosshair at head height on the angle you are about to swing, not on the floor while you run.

  • Start here

    Eco means save

If the team cannot buy rifles plus utility, save. A force-buy every round is how you fight AKs with pistols for the rest of the half. Armor is the first thing on a pistol round if you have the money.

  • Advanced

Smokes are lineups, molotovs are time

Mid Doors and Xbox on Mirage, banana on Inferno, and the window on Overpass are the smokes you should be able to throw without a workshop map open. A molotov on a plant is delay; an HE on a stacked site is 20-plus damage that wins the spray.

  • Advanced

Don't peek the angle you just died on

If a teammate died wide-swinging Long, you don't wide-swing Long. Re-take with utility, or wait for the rotate. Prefire common close angles after a smoke; don't walk into them.

  • Secrets

    Boosts and one-ways

Inferno balcony boosts, Mirage window, and a few one-way smokes still exist in CS2's volumetric smoke. Learn two per map you actually queue; ten half-remembered lineups will get you killed in spawn.

  • Multiplayer

    Utility is a teammate

A flash that pops as your entry swings is the round. Don't save a smoke 'for later' on a full-buy execute. Call 'one palace, half' not 'he's here'; and never dry-peek an Operator twice.
