Terraria

A 2D sandbox about digging, building, and fighting bosses in a pixel world.

Re-Logic · 60–100 hrs

Difficulty

A 2D sandbox with a boss ladder that is the actual campaign. NPC housing, buff stations, and class choice at the start of Hardmode decide whether the Wall of Flesh was a wall or a door.

Tips

  • Start here

NPCs need a house, not a hole

A valid house is walls, a table, a chair, and a light. The Guide will stay in a dirt box; the Nurse and the Dryad will not, and you want both before the first boss night.

  • Start here

    Grapple and platforms

A grappling hook (gem hook or Ivy Whip) and a stack of platforms are more movement than any early accessory. Don't fight the Eye of Cthulhu until you have a gold/platinum bow or a decent yoyo and a small arena.

  • Advanced

    The arena is the build

Campfires, Heart Lanterns, stars in a bottle, honey, and sunflowers are a buff station. Bosses in Terraria are arena checks; a Star Cannon on a flat surface still loses to a well-buffed gold bow on a proper sky bridge.

  • Secrets

Second orb spawns the Arms Dealer

Smash two Shadow Orbs or Crimson Hearts for the Musket or The Undertaker, which is what makes the Arms Dealer move in. The third smash summons the boss; don't smash three if you wanted to keep exploring.

  • Secrets

Water Bolt is in the dungeon early

You can sneak the Water Bolt off the dungeon shelves before Skeletron if you don't walk far enough to aggro the dungeon guardian. Plantera bulbs spawn in the underground jungle only after all three mechanical bosses are dead.

  • Bosses

Hellbridge for the Wall of Flesh

Build a long, flat hellbridge before you drop the voodoo doll. Don't stop running, and don't fight on raw hellstone. The Pwnhammer it drops is for altars; smash them to start Hardmode ore, not for fun.

  • Builds

    Pick a color at Hardmode

Melee (Molten then Adamantite), ranger (Minishark into Megashark), or mage (Water Bolt into Golden Shower) — spreading all three means no class has an armor set. Accessories should follow the same color.
