Diablo IV

An action RPG about fighting demons across Sanctuary as Lilith returns.

Blizzard Entertainment · 40–80 hrs

Difficulty

An open-world aRPG where Lilith altars, Helltides, and a Codex of Power matter more than the first ancestral you salvage. Seasons change the board; vulnerable, crit, and a resource loop do not.

Tips

  • Start here

    Aspects live in the Codex

Don't salvage an ancestral until you've extracted or Codex'd the Aspect you actually need. Dungeons imprint the Codex; that's the campaign inside the campaign. Capstone dungeons gate World Tiers, not the story boss.

  • Start here

Altars of Lilith are free stats

Every Altar is account-wide paragon and stats. Ride the map for them before you grind a Nightmare dungeon that a 10-stat gap is making miserable. Helltides are the open-world material dump; do them on the way, not as a separate homework session.

  • Advanced

    Vulnerable, then crit, then additive

Vulnerable and crit are multipliers; most other damage stats add together. A skill that applies Vulnerable on a resource loop will outscale a six-button bar with no engine.

  • Advanced

    Whispers and Nightmare sigils

Tree of Whispers caches are the glyph-XP and the sigils. Don't run a sigil far above your level because the color looked higher; a death is the glyph XP you did not get.

  • Secrets

The Butcher is a random room

The Butcher can spawn in almost any dungeon and will end a casual clear. Leave a movement skill on the bar. Uber Lilith is a mechanic fight, not a DPS check you brute with last season's legendary.

  • Builds

One skill engine, not six actives

Spend the bar on one damage skill, a resource skill, a defense, and a mobility. Legendary Aspects should all point at that engine. A 'little of everything' paragon board is how World Tier 4 stays spongy.

  • Multiplayer

    Tag the world boss

Hit a world boss at least once so you get loot credit. Don't grief the event by pulling it out of the circle. Trade is limited; the real multiplayer is a Nightmare dungeon key you can actually finish as a four.
